ROAD TO ACHNACARNIN

Tuesday, August 13.

Been off the air for the last few days as reception has been poor.

Headed north this morning to spend a few days with Harry and Julie, who live over the road from Lynton and Sarah, at their other house in Achnacarnin, on the Stoer Penninsula, on the north west coast of Scotland. This is the real Scottish highlands.

Passed over the Forth Road bridge across the Firth of Forth. What a magnificent bridge.

Country very quickly turned to this.

Still lots of Scottish pines, but that wasn’t to last.

Many stone bridges on the way.

Trees beginning to thin out.

No trees now. Definitely in the highlands now.

Rail viaduct along the way.

One of the many Lochs. Water in abundance.

Ardvreck Castle on the edge of Loch Assynt.

Lots of rock, heather and gorse.

Estuary leading into Ullapool.

Even in the rain, the mountains look ominous.

White sand and looming mountains.

Road into the house. Not for the faint hearted.

Finally arrived at our destination. View from Harry and Julie’s lounge room. Not a bad view.
