Sunday, August 30.
Packed up and drove the 5kms to Versailles, as we would be staying with Doms cousins at Mennesy.
Parked and the others joined the queue to get in while I joined the ticket queue. Tickets took half an hour, entrance queue, two hours.
The palace is enormous. Built by Louis ZIV, to escape the Louvre Palace, had 10,00 servants.
Jumped on mini train to look at the rest of the grounds before heading of to Mennsey.
Found Fredrick’s place fairly easily. His family were very welcoming and we had a radiation all French/Italian dinner with too many courses, and yes wine for each course, and an appetite to follow. Slept very well.
What a brilliant palace! The building contractors must have been busy!
