Monday, September 14.
Onto train and down to Erclano, the other town wiped out by Vesuvius, but better preserved as it was covered with mud. Excavations are still underway here also as around 65% is still covered by soil and the new town. Much of it will never be recovered.
Finished, we headed for the train back to Pompeii, collected Myrtle and headed for Rome. Arrived at the campsite, probably the best we have been to on our travels. Dinner and bed after a long day.
